A chemical peel is a treatment used to remove layers of damaged or aged skin cells to reveal softer, younger looking skin and promotes growth of new skin with an improved appearance. They help to improve fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, blotchiness, dryness and acne.
Chemical peels produce a partial thickness injury to the skin, the depth of which is determined by the chemical agents. Following the trauma to the skin, the wound healing process reorients the new skin connective tissue. Collagen remodeling is the main reason chemical peels . The epidermis heals in a few days giving the skin an improved appearance, more even color, smoother texture and a healthier glow.
About thirty minutes in total, hence it has often been referred to as “the lunch time peel”.
In general, peels usually begin with vigorous cleansing of your skin. An acetone swab will be used to remove the natural surface oils of your skin. After your skin has been prepared, Layers of the acid are gently and expertly applied to your skin. A timer is set and when the proper time has passed, the physician neutralizes the acid and removes the product. Your skin is then wiped clean and sunscreen is applied to the skin.
A couple of weeks before your chemical peel procedure, it’s helpful to prep your skin by cleansing it two times a day, applying a moisturizer once or twice daily, and applying sunscreen as prescribed.
You may go outside, but sunscreen must be worn for at least a few days after the peel as your skin will likely be a little more sensitive to sun exposure.
Many individuals find that a peel performed every three to four weeks gives optimal results. Glycolic acid peels complement the regular use of other products such as glycolic acid containing preparations that can be used on a regular basis at home. The short term exposure of a higher concentration of glycolic acid on a periodic basis helps maintain skin health and appearance.
No. There is a mild degree of “tingling” or a slightly itchy sensation while the glycolic acid is in contact with the skin. Upon neutralizing the peel, the skin feels fresh and smooth without discomfort.
The Derma Roller (or skin roller) has the features of a precision engineered medical instrument. It is based upon a simple hand held roller which has 192 surgical steel micro-needles which are able to part the pores of the top layer of the skin without damaging it. The pores close again around an hour later, but during that time, your skin is significantly better able to absorb the lotion (meso therapy) applied.
Of course, the speed at which you will get results depends on what you are treating and how extensively your body needs to remodel the affected area. This process of skin remodelling can go on for months after each Derma Roller treatment, but noticeable results can be seen within a week! Your skin naturally renews itself every 40 days, so with a little stimulation changes can be dramatic and fast. The Derma Roller course takes four sessions every two to four weeks, depending on how damaged your skin is.
There are virtually no negative side effects, and none have ever been reported in over 150,000 procedures performed worldwide.
The roller is covered with hundreds of minuscule ‘micro-medical’ needles that penetrate the skin, creating lots of tiny ‘wounds’. Your skin responds by producing extra collagen to ‘heal’ the punctures, and that’s what plumps up the skin again and enhances the natural blood supply – so you get a natural ‘glow’.
A good candidate for microdermabrasion is a physically healthy man or woman with realistic expectations who is looking to minimize the appearance of acne prone or blotchy skin, fine lines and surface wrinkles, sun-damaged or uneven skin, keratoses, large pores, milia, rhytides, sebaceous hyperplasia or small scars.
Microdermabrasion is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure used to treat facial skin that has been damaged by the sun and age. Microdermabrasion can give the skin a fresh, healthy appearance by minimizing acne scars, age spots, blemishes caused by sun damage, crow’s feet, fine lines, and superficial wrinkles.
Though multiple sessions are usually required, a single microdermabrasion procedure takes about thirty minutes to one hour to complete.
There is generally little or no pain associated with microdermabrasion. At the most, patients may experience a feeling similar to slight windburn or some minimal stinging around the eyes.
Your doctor can give you a rough idea of the number of microdermabrasions needed for best results. Major changes are obvious after the forth session, even though most patients say they observed improvements after the first two. Most doctors suggest 4 to 6 microabrasion treatments, scheduled around two weeks apart, so the skin has time to recover between micro dermabrasion sessions.
You will receive a sunscreen hydrating moisturizer after microdermabrasion, to avoid sun damage after leaving the doctor’s office. Some redness might occur on treated areas, but they generally disappear after a few hours. During the first 24 hours, your skin may feel dry, similarly to effects of a mild wind or sunburn. Use lots of moisturizer during the first few days. Avoid sun exposure for at least a week after the treatment, don’t use any peeling products for the next 3-4 days and avoid full-face make up .
As the skin ages, it gradually loses some of its collagen, hyaluronic acid and fat. These are the materials that prevent the skin from becoming droopy or saggy. Dermal fillers help to restore our skin to its former youthful appearance. Material is injected into the skin in areas where it needs to be plumped up again and made to look firmer.
There are many kinds of fillers and new ones are coming onto the market every day. They are generally made from either collagen or hyaluronic acid. They last between 6-12 months. We use it as it is a non-animal product, it causes less pain and swelling on injection, it is very versatile and it has a superb safety record.
The injections usually last under 5 minutes. The needle used is incredibly fine and pain is usually not an issue especially after the numbing cream.
These are incredibly safe injections. There may be slight redness and swelling at the injection site. Occasionally there may be some minor bruising. This generally subsides over 72 hours. Lumps at the injection site are avoided by massaging the product in.
The results are visible immediately. The degree of correction is dependent on the patient’s wishes and the amount of product used. The result usually last 6-12 months.creen hydrating moisturizer after microdermabrasion, to avoid sun damage after leaving the doctor’s office. Botox injections are a diluted form of purified neurotoxin protein complex derived from botulism toxin. The botulinum toxin is created by the bacterium, Clostridium Botulinum. Botox is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck.
Normally your brain sends electrical messages to your muscles so that they can contract and move. The electrical message is transmitted to the muscle by a substance called acetylcholine. Botox blocks the release of acetylcholine. By blocking the release of acetylcholine Botox blocks the message that tells the muscle to contract. Essentially, Botox decreases muscle activity by blocking the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction. Therefore, muscle spasms stop or are greatly reduced after the injection of Botox.
Botox injections are most effective for wrinkles that are visible when smiling, laughing, raising the eyebrows or for crow’s feet around the eyes. These wrinkles are called “dynamic” and tend to be much less noticeable when your face is completely relaxed. It also works well for bands in the neck. Botox injections are widely used to remove facial lines, especially frown lines, “crow’s feet,” and forehead lines. Botox is also indicated for the treatment of severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating) that is inadequately managed with topical agents.
Botox injections are relatively safe treatment when administered by a trained medical professional who is experienced with using Botox injections. As with all injectable treatments, there are some potential side effects associated with Botox, but most of these side effects are mild and temporary. Pain, tenderness and bruising may be associated with the injection, and some people have reported a slight headache after treatment. It’s important to remember that that all medical procedures carry risks as well as benefits, and you need to discuss these with your doctor.
Botox may or may not be the best treatment for the results you desire. An ideal candidate meets the following conditions:
The smallest needles available are used so the discomfort is minimal and brief. The Botox injections themselves do not tend to sting as much as injections of local anaesthetic. Some comparisons that are used to explain the sensation of the Botox injections are “like having your eyebrows plucked”, “getting a bug bit” or “receiving a pin prick”. Overall, the discomfort from Botox injections should be minimal and temporary. If needed, the Botox injection areas can be numbed with ice or a local anesthetic cream.
Most Botox injection procedures take 10 to 15 minutes. There is no recovery time required. You may return to work or continue your usual daily activities immediately following the Botox procedure.
Most patients start to see some effect at two to three days after Botox injections. For the final Botox result, it often takes five to seven days. Some areas may take as long as two weeks. Lines continue to improve for up to a month after Botox, and results can last for up to 6 months. For most people, Botox results last 3 to 4 months.
You should avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours, lying down for at least four hours and massaging or pressing the Botox injection areas for fours after the Botox procedure. These activities can all cause the Botox to migrate into muscles that were not supposed to be relaxed and lead to droopy eyelids and other side effects. Using the muscle intentionally makes it contract and may help to localize the Botox to the selected muscle. Do not take any aspirin for two or three days either side of the injections as this may help to reduce the chance of bruising.
Since the procedure is nonsurgical, no recovery time is needed. After Botox Cosmetic treatment, you can get back to work or other activities right away.
Following injection recovery is immediate, and you can return to work immediately.
There are some potential side effects of Botox. Botox side effects vary according to injection site, dose, frequency of injections, and the level of physician expertise. Botox side effects such as pain, tenderness, swelling or bruising at the injection site are temporary and occur within a few days after treatment. Possible Botox side effects which have been reported include:
The beneficial effects of Botox injections last, on average, three to four months with some individuals claiming benefits for up to six months. With each new treatment the results tend to last longer.
The answer depends on how long you remain satisfied with the results. Since the length of time that the results last vary from person to person you will need to determine, along with your doctor, how often you should have treatment. For most individuals, it is usually 3 to 4 months between treatments.
Hyperhidrosis is a disorder characterized by excessive sweating that occurs in 1% to 3% of the population. The excessive sweating can occur in the hands (palmar hyperhidrosis), in the armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis), or in the feet (plantar hyperhidrosis).
